HTP is excited to announce that we are bringing back the wonderful Festival of Trees holiday event. 🎄 HOMETOWN FOR THE HOLIDAYS! 🎄 So, save the date, and we will have lots more information to come.
🎅Who / Where 🤶 Morning Sun Hometown Pride (HTP) will be hosting a friendly competition to showcase residential, organization, and business holiday lighting and decorations in and around Morning Sun, Iowa. 🌟When 🌟 If you would like your holiday lights to be considered in the competition, please notify the event organizers no later than Monday, 27 November 2023.
Join us at the Morning Sun School for the Halloween Costume Party right after trick or treating! Registration is from 7 to 7:30 pm. All ages, infants to adults are welcome. There will be multiple winners in each age group as well as prizes for best duo and best group. $200 in prize money! There will be games and prizes for the kids while you wait for the contest to begin. Judging will be done by the crowd and tallied up by the hosts. All judging should finish around 8:15, and winners will be announced right after tallies are totaled.
Morning Sun Hometown Pride is hosting an adult (18+) bingo event at the Kerr Spot! Bingo will start at 7 p.m. Come ahead for pizza and drinks! HTP will be hosting from 5 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Halloween theme, and we will have some prizes for participants. Dressing up is not required, and we look forward to seeing everyone for a fun event and a good cause.
Join us for a meal and BINGO on the 2nd Thursday of each month. The meal is from 5:00-6:30 p.m., and BINGO starts at 6:30 p.m. Popcorn, drinks, and treats will be available throughout the evening. $10 for 3 game per card sheet and $20 for 6 game per card sheet. 20 games total, with the last game being double the prize amount! 50/50 drawing, $1 a ticket, or 6 tickets for $5. All money raised goes back to community events and projects from the Morning Sun Hometown Pride! Thank you for your support, and we hope you can join us!
Morning sun Hometown Pride Projects & timeline
Flag Project
The first project for HTP was lining the streets with over 100 American flags. HTP and community members put these flags up and down each flag holiday. It is quite the site to see.
7/1/2015Cemetary Project
HTP's second large project was for the Cemetary. New signage and landscaping brought beauty and needed upgrades.
1/8/2016Community Garden
The HTP added a free to all garden to our community. The garden is now located on division street with 14 raised beds, including many fruit trees and a nature playscape for kids. Each year the elementary students come to plant and care for the garden. They work really hard for us. The garden is a beautiful addition to Morning Sun and we are so proud to see this project grow each year.

Safe Sidewalks for our School Project
In 2019 and 2020, the HTP completed over $40,000 of sidewalks on the division street's south side. Starting at our school park and going all the way to the downtown.
3/1/2020Splash pad and new ADA Accessible Park Project
Our current and most significant project is the new splash pad and playground project. We have raised over $35,000 with a goal of $200,000 before grant writing begins. Your donation is very much appreciated.
